The Faber Companions

The Faber Companions were first brought together by Fr. Myles O’Reilly SJ in 2018, with the aim of making the person of Jesus and the rich Christian wisdom of St. Ignatius (the founder of Fr. Myles’ order, the Jesuits), more readily accessible to young people.

Cathal, Sean, Ciarán, Maria, Stephanie, Jacob, Eoin, Ciarán and James are a group of young men and women forming a Christian community, with the aim of finding the will of God in their lives, and living out the dance that this entails. As a young adult apostolate of the Jesuits, they are receiving a formation in Ignatian Spirituality in such a way that they can also pass it onto their peers. The Companions facilitate various Christ-centred projects for their peers, who, with the Companions, form the Faber Community at large.

Cathal, Sean, Ciarán, Jacob, Eoin, Ciarán and James live together in a house in Rathmines; Maria and Stephanie live elsewhere and join the guys from their respective homes. We meet on a weekly basis to discuss projects, listen out for any new bright ideas, and check in with one another personally.

Some Companions are students, some work part-time, some work full-time; all are passionate about spreading the Gospel message that God loves us deeply as His children, and that we are in turn called to love one another in kind.

Companions commit to living in community on a year-by-year basis, and, as a place of vocational discernment, it’s been a launchpad for all kinds of life-changing adventures - from marriages and religious vocations to new jobs and five-thousand mile relocations!
