Why Not Me?

by José María Rodríguez Olaizola, SJ (chosen by Maria Salto Galdón)

Why not me?
Who will bring possibilities if imagination dries up?
Who will drag us to dance if we lose the willingness to live?
Who will play the music that no one composes?
When will there be time for true love?
Where will justice dwell if in our land camps force?
How to listen to a silenced God?
Who will reignite our sleeping compassion?
When will we go out of the cell?
The door is open
It is time that dreamers
silence false prophets
It is time to dance once more
weaving with every step
garlands of bare truth
Let singers throw away their gag
and prudence,
for they are to find the way
to shout the good news
to everyone
to every one.
It’s time for the good shepherd,
It’s your time.
